KARO NATIREL

PROJECT

CONTEXT

Born in 2022 from discussions with our Smart Agriculture project beneficiaries who wish to differentiate their sustainable vegetable production from conventional production, the “Karo Natirel” project aims to enhance the products of farmers, reward their efforts towards a sustainable production method and bring healthier products to the market.

The project is implemented by the Mauritius Chamber of Agriculture (MCA), in partnership with the Australian High Commission.

Activities

The main activities of the “Karo Natirel” project are:

  • The organization of discussion groups (focus groups) involving planters and consumers to identify areas for common improvement for the production of vegetables that would be considered healthy for all,
  • The validation of one or more specifications towards which to direct the planters according to their needs and expectations,
  • The creation of this web page allowing to put transparency in the criteria and to present those which are labelled/approved,
  • And a communication campaign around the project.

Ultimately, these activities aim to highlight the most relevant specification(s) for planters and end beneficiaries, in order to direct them towards the one(s) that best meets their needs and expectations, and to support them in their certification process.

Our Partner

The project is implemented by the Mauritius Chamber of Agriculture (MCA), in partnership with the Australian High Commission, which provides funding through the Direct Aid Program (DAP). This partnership has a duration of one year and 2 months, from June 2022 to August 2023.
